Los cambios en la política migratoria impulsados por el presidente de Estados Unidos, Donald Trump, comenzaron a afectar a los mexicanos que pretender renovar su visa.
Desde la semana pasada, el periodo entre la fecha de expiración de la visa y la fecha de renovación de la misma se redujo a menos de la mitad, sin necesidad de verse cara a cara con el agente de migración del vecino país del norte.
Para poder renovar la visa sin la necesidad de una entrevista con un agente del consulado, el tiempo transcurrido entre la fecha de expiración y el día de la renovación cambió recientemente de 48 a 12 meses. Esto para las visas de no migrantes, o sea de negocios o turismo.
Algunos otros requisitos para no ser entrevistado por un agente consular son que el solicitante no debe haber sido arrestado o condenado por un delito, deportado de los Estados Unidos, le haya sido negada la entrada a los Estados Unidos, o haya tenido otros problemas o dificultades con Aduanas y Patrulla Fronteriza de EU al intentar ingresar a Estados Unidos.
Según el Centro de Atención al Solicitante en la Ciudad de México, debe haber transcurrido como máximo un año para renovar la visa sin el requisito de entrevistarse con algún funcionario migratorio de la Unión Americana.
De postergarse, en las entrevistas que se realizan a los solicitantes de visas de no migrantes el agente consular puede decidir si se autoriza o se niega la visa para el solicitante.
Algunas de las preguntas en estas entrevistas son para conocer el motivo del viaje, si se cuenta con recursos necesarios o si existen motivos suficientes para garantizar que el solicitante regrese a su país.
Asimismo, se endurecieron las políticas de seguridad en torno a las entrevistas en embajadas y consulados, pues a partir del día 19 de diciembre, la Sección de Visas de No Inmigrante no contará con resguardo temporal para artículos personales.
Aunado a que quienes asistan a entrevista tienen prohibido entrar con alimentos, armas de fuego, o cualquier tipo de líquidos incluyendo gel desinfectante; así como, cualquier tipo de equipo electrónico, tal como teléfonos celulares, cámara fotográfica o de video, radios y computadoras. El portar cualquiera de estos artículos resultará en la suspensión de la entrevista, por lo tanto, tendrá que agendar una nueva cita para otro día.
