CIUDAD DE MÉXICO (Sputnik) — El presidente mexicano, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, celebró la decisión de su homólogo de EEUU, Joe Biden, de poner fin a la “emergencia nacional” en la frontera de ambos países decretada por su antecesor Donald Trump y a la construcción de un muro en la zona limítrofe de casi 3.200 kilómetros.
“Estamos muy de acuerdo en que se cancele la construcción del muro fronterizo, es un tema que celebramos, porque el muro se ha venido construyendo desde hace algún tiempo, han construido sus tramos tanto los presidentes demócratas como los republicanos”, dijo el jefe de Estado en conferencia de prensa.
Biden notificó el 11 de febrero, en una carta al Congreso de EEUU, la anulación del “estado de emergencia” y la construcción en la frontera sur.
López Obrador agregó que otro cambio en la nueva administración estadounidense es “que ya no van a mantener a migrantes esperando su autorización de asilo en nuestro país, sino que van a tenerlos en territorio estadounidense, esperando a que les resuelvan sus peticiones” de asilo.
