El Congreso argentino sancionó en una jornada histórica el aborto legal, seguro y gratuito, una deuda de la democracia con las mujeres y personas con capacidad de gestar, para cerrar el 2020 con un broche de oro inesperado después de un año de muy pocas buenas noticias.
El Senado argentino aprobó la madrugada del 30 de diciembre la demandada Ley de Interrupción Voluntaria del Embarazo con 38 votos a favor y 29 en contra, luego de un intenso debate y arduas negociaciones con los legisladores que se manifestaban indecisos previo a la votación, que se prolongaron hasta último minuto.
2020 fue un año de pérdidas y tristezas como consecuencia de la pandemia de COVID-19 y el duro golpe que significó para la salud y la capacidad de trabajar, que afectó negativamente las vidas de millones de familias argentinas, ya envueltas en una crisis económica previa.
Pero dos días antes de terminar este año fatídico, Argentina recibió una noticia histórica, un hito inigualable para la lucha que lleva adelante el movimiento feminista desde hace décadas: la legalización del derecho a abortar de las mujeres y otras personas con capacidad de gestar, a decidir sobre sus propios cuerpos sin limitaciones de fundamento religioso en país que se presume laico, a recibir atención médica gratuita y de calidad y contención del Estado para no recurrir a la amenaza que implica la clandestinidad, para no morir.
Gritos y llantos inundaron ambos lados de la plaza que se encuentra frente al Congreso nacional, dividida para evitar enfrentamientos entre detractores e impulsores de la legalización de la interrupción voluntaria del embarazo.
En la sección de los pañuelos celestes, color que representa al movimiento llamado Salvemos las Dos Vidas, que se autodenomina pro-vida del feto por nacer, el lamento fue por tristeza y frustración, un capítulo más para un año marcado por las decepciones.
Pero del lado de la ‘marea verde‘, que representa al conjunto de colectivos feministas y la Campaña por el Derecho al Aborto Legal, Seguro y Gratuito, las lágrimas fueron de alegría y algarabía, pero también de descarga luego de años de lucha y de dolor por el recuerdo de las miles de mujeres que murieron en el pasado, y lo siguen haciendo hasta la fecha, como consecuencia de los abortos clandestinos.

Era hora de que esta enorme demanda que viene arrasando en las calles ya hace mucho tiempo se convierta en ley”, dijo a Sputnik María Claudia ‘la negra’ Albornoz, militante de la organización popular La Poderosa, en representación del “feminismo de las masas empobrecidas”.

En Argentina hay 39.025 internaciones por año como consecuencia de abortos clandestinos y, desde la recuperación de la democracia en 1983 hasta el 2019, al menos 3.200 mujeres murieron por esta causa. Se realizan hasta 520.000 abortos inseguros por año, 54 por hora. Cada 3 horas, una niña de entre 10 y 14 años es forzada a gestar, parir y criar, de acuerdo a datos del Ministerio de Salud.

El 30 de diciembre de 2020 quedará grabado en los libros de historia argentinos como uno de esos días en los que la sociedad y la política dieron un paso adelante en la conquista y ampliación de los derechos de la mujer y las minorías sexuales, un camino que comenzó con la legalización del voto femenino en 1947 y continuó con el divorcio en 1987, la educación sexual integral en 2006, el matrimonio de personas del mismo sexo en 2010 y el derecho a la identidad de género en 2012.

Argentina se transformó en la cuarta nación latinoamericana en legalizar la interrupción voluntaria del embarazo en todo su territorio, después de Cuba, Guyana y Uruguay. Además se cuentan Guayana Francesa y Puerto Rico, estados no soberanos que dependen de Francia y EEUU, respectivamente, y dos distritos de México: la ciudad capital y el Estado de Oaxaca.
La definición de la votación mantuvo en vilo hasta último instante a la población y esta vez se ratificó en una decisión histórica la media sanción que habían dado los Diputados hace 19 días, a diferencia de lo ocurrido en 2018, cuando la cámara alta no acompañó la aprobación que se había logrado en la baja.
Los senadores celestes contaron con dos bajas en el Congreso: el exgoberandor de la provincia de Tucumán José Alperovich, quien se encuentra de licencia desde hace un año por estar siendo investigado por la denuncia de abuso sexual realizada por su sobrina, y el polémico expresidente Carlos Menem (1989-1999), internado en una clínica desde hace unos días y en coma inducido por complicaciones en su salud y con un delicado pronóstico.Además, algunos de los senadores que habían votado en contra en 2018 cambiaron su voto y acompañaron esta vez el proyecto que legalizó el aborto hasta la semana 14, inclusive. Gracias a modificaciones de último minuto en el texto, los legisladores del oficialismo Silvina García Larraburu, por la provincia de Río Negro, y Sergio Leavy, por Salta, pasaron de celestes a verdes, y la senadora Lucila Crexell, hace dos años se abstuvo, ahora votó a favor.
