MÉXICO, DF.- Facebook planea lanzar una nueva herramienta para poder competir contra el gigante de los vídeos, YouTube, la cual funcionará como una sección específica destinada a albergar y almacenar los vídeos de los usuarios.
Este nuevo centro de vídeos permitirá que los usuarios puedan ver los contenidos audiovisuales de otros contactos, los guardados o vídeos populares, algo que sugiere YouTube.
De momento, este servicio ha comenzado a probarse en los dispositivos basados en el sistema operativo iOS, integrado dentro de los iPhone y iPad, aunque medios especializados sugieren que se trasladará a Android una vez implementado.
“Todavía estamos en las primeras pruebas, pero estamos muy contentos con los resultados iniciales que demuestran que las personas quieren ver y descubrir más videos”, explicó Will Cathcart, vicepresidente de producto de Facebook.
Facebook está tendiendo puentes hacia convertirse en la definitiva herramienta de comunicación, también integrará inserciones publicitarias dentro de estos vídeos, lo que podría incluso aumentar sus ingresos por publicidad móvil, que actualmente representa el 86% de sus beneficios totales.
La red social probará, además, un botón que permitirá guardar el vídeo y mostrarse en una ventana flotante, permitiendo así que los usuarios puedan realiar otras tareas mientras los reproduce.
