Todo comenzó cuando el menor tenía frecuentes dolores y vómitos y los médicos encontraron algo aterrador
Un niño de 5 años se quejaba de constantes dolores de cabeza y al llegar al hospital los médicos le extrajeron nueve dientes del cerebro.
Todo comenzó cuando el menor era un feto y se le formó un tumor raro en las estructuras óseas que no se detectó cuando nació. En ese tumor se formaron los dientes que fueron encontrados hasta hoy debido a los frecuentes vómitos y dolores de cabeza que tenía.
El doctor Shen Zhipeng, de la Universidad de Medicina de Zhejiang, China, le realizó una resonancia magnética y se le detectó hidrocefalia (agua en el cerebro), así como una gran cantidad de objetos blancos en el cerebro.
La peligrosa cirugía
En la complicada cirugía de cráneo que duró seis horas, le extrajeron nueve dientes del cerebro y además se le diagnosticó un tumor de células germinales conocido como teratoma.
Este tumor puede ser benigno o maligno (canceroso) pero afortunadamente el del menor no era peligroso.
“El cerebro humano es delicado, más aún cuando es de un niño. Fue como sacar huesos de un huevo crudo. Fue una cirugía muy complicada”, expresó el doctor Zhipeng.
“Todos saben que la leucemia es el cáncer más común en los niños, pero lo que la gente no sabe es que los tumores del sistema nervioso central son los segundos más frecuentes”.

“De los tumores del sistema nervioso central, los teratomas son infrecuentes y se detectan solo el 5 por ciento de las veces”.
“Son muy difíciles de detectar desde el principio, pero cuando son descubiertos, el paciente a menudo sufre de hidrocefalia grave.
“Cuando un niño sufre de dolores de cabeza y vómitos, la primera reacción de la mayoría de los padres es recurrir a la medicina interna o la gastroenterología, pero en realidad se puede tratar de un tumor cerebral”.
