Barack Obama tuvo esta tarde su última conferencia de prensa como presidente de Estados Unidos (EU), y se despidió con un mensaje de confianza en la voluntad y buenas intenciones de la sociedad estadounidense.
En una sesión de preguntas y respuestas, Obama dijo que desempeñarse como presidente es un trabajo sin comparación alguna, que requiere del respaldo de todos los actores públicos disponibles.
Respecto al clima de tensión entre algún sector de la población estadounidense por la llegada de Donald Trump, que jurará este viernes como presidente 45, Obama dijo que la unidad debe prevalecer y consideró que su administración se apegó al principio de “transición en orden”.
Sin hacer mención directa de su sucesor, Obama afirmó que las acusaciones de “fraude” durante el proceso electoral son “noticias falsas”, expresión utilizada por Trump la semana pasada durante una conferencia de prensa en la que xplotó contra BuzzFeed y CNN por divulgar reportes no confirmados sobre un supuesto apoyo de Rusia a su candidatura.
“La única cosa que es el fin del mundo, es el propio fin del mundo”, dijo el todavía presidente sobre lo que le dijo a sus hijas Malia y Sasha tras el triunfo del candidato republicano en las elecciones del pasado 8 de noviembre. Obama dijo, sobre el cambio de gobierno, que el pueblo de EU debe luchar por las causas en las que confía y no dar nada por hecho.
“Creo que hay maldad en el mundo, pero al final del día si trabajamos duros, y si somos honestos a esas cosas, el mundo mejora cada día. Este no es un tema de ‘no drama, Obama’. En el fondo creo que vamos a estar bien, sólo tenemos que luchar por ello y no dar nada por hecho”.
