“Con mi amigo, el mayor Pete Sáenz estamos defendiendo la región de los dos Laredos, nos comprometimos a trabajar con muchas ganas, empeño y pasión, dejar muy en claro que Laredo y Nuevo Laredo son una misma comunidad, están más allá de cualquier política internacional de la nueva administración de los Estados Unidos”, declaró el alcalde.
Señaló que ambas regiones trabajan de manera conjunta, que secretarios de esta administración colaboran con el gabinete del mayor Pete Sáenz para desarrollar proyectos y estrategias para la región de los dos Laredos.
“Hoy como nunca la relación de los dos Laredos está muy fuerte, el Mayor y yo participamos en diversas actividades de tipo comercial, político e industrial, va más allá de unirse en un solo evento al año como es el Día del Abrazo y no volver a interactuar, nosotros trabajando de la mano”, mencionó el presidente Rivas.
Referente a la invitación que el Gobernador de Tamaulipas realizó al presidente Donald Trump, el alcalde comentó lo siguiente:
“Me sumo a la invitación que hace el señor gobernador Francisco García Cabeza de Vaca, que mejor lugar que Nuevo Laredo para tener un encuentro los dos presidentes; esta frontera para Estados Unidos es el tercer puerto en importancia para el intercambio comercial y para México es la capital aduanera, donde el 40% del comercio que tiene el país con nuestros vecinos del norte cruza por aquí”, puntualizó el alcalde.
