En la atención médica se comprobó que el conductor estaba en estado de ebriedad, por lo que no le permitió ver el socavón y por ender terminó cayendo en el mismo.
Trascendió que la pareja viajaba en una camioneta Ford Explorer circulando de oriente a poniente por San Armando. En el cruce con San Hilario, cayeron en el socavón que tiene un tiempo abierto, y resultaron golpeados.
