En un contexto electoral en donde aún prevalecen la “feria de las desconfianzas y las suspicacias”, era innecesario tomar la fotografía y solicitar la copia de la credencial de elector como requisito para vacunar a los adultos mayores, sostuvo hoy el consejero presidente del Instituto Nacional Electoral (INE), Lorenzo Córdova.
Destacó la colaboración que se ha alcanzado con las autoridades sanitarias durante la pandemia, lo que favoreció adoptar la decisión de suspender esta práctica.
Consideró que además de estas suspicacias de orden electoral, esta medida colocaba sobre la mesa el debate sobre las medidas para la protección de datos personales de los ciudadanos.
Durante la sesión de la Junta General Ejecutiva del INE, Córdova destacó que como principal instrumento de identidad, la credencial de elector permite confirmar que el ciudadano citado a la vacunación efectivamente es quien se presenta.
Pero una cosa es garantizar la identidad y otra es solicitar requisitos que en un contexto electoral detona las desconfianza que hay en torno al uso de la credencial de elector, añadió Córdova.
El consejero presidente subrayó la confiabilidad que tiene la credencial de elector, como lo muestran las cifras de la atención a ciudadanos que ofreció el INE durante los 10 últimos días, para realizar trámites en donde se atendieron a 1.2 millones de personas.
Destacó que el último día, el 10 de febrero, se llegó al máximo histórico de atención, con 257 mil trámites realizados en los 840 módulos de atención ciudadana.
En otro orden, al presentarse el informe sobre el Plan de Implementación de la Estrategia Nacional de Cultura Cívica 2017-2023, Córdova subrayó la importancia de realizar actividades que fortalezcan los valores cívicos y democráticos durante una emergencia sanitaria.
Recordó que en muchos países las medidas de protección implicaron restricciones en los derechos de los ciudadanos.
Afortunadamente, dijo, México no es de los países en donde se vieron restringidos los derechos ciudadanos, por lo que destacó la importancia de realizar acciones que buscan alentar una mayor participación cívica.
