Semejante tocho es de los que se resisten a una adaptación audiovisual (y eso que, en vida del escritor, no le faltaron pretendientes), pero Netflix parece dispuesta a arriesgarse: la plataforma de VOD ha comprado los derechos de la novela para una adaptación en forma de serie.
Rodrigo y Gonzalo García, hijos de ‘Gabo’, ejercerán como productores ejecutivos de un show que se rodará en español. Francisco Ramos, jefe de contenido hispanoparlante en Netflix, señala (vía New York Times) que la popularidad de Narcos y Roma ha animado al canal a emprender una producción tan ambiciosa como esta. “Podemos hacer contenidos en español para todo el mundo”, comenta.
Cien años de soledad narra la historia de un pueblo colombiano, Macondo, y de la familia que lo fundó (los Buendía) en un relato extensísimo donde la hipérbole y lo paranormal son constantes. No en vano la novela está considerada la piedra angular del llamado ‘realismo mágico’, tan característico del boom de la literatura latinoamericana durante el siglo pasado. Señalemos, por otra parte, que el libro ya tuvo una adaptación al cine… japonés: su título fue Farewell to the Ark y la dirigió el muy demente Shuji Terayama en 1984.
Ahora solo cabe preguntarse cuántos personajes distintos llamados “Aureliano” y “José Arcadio” podrá memorizar el espectador…
